ADVOCACY

Members of the Togogos group also work as part of the the Grandmothers Advocacy Network, (GRAN) a cross-Canada network of volunteers who advocate with the Canadian government to ensure Canada does all it can to alleviate the devastating impact of AIDS and on grandmothers and their orphaned grandchildren in sub-Saharan Africa. GRAN participants take action to raise public awareness and influence policy makers in three key areas:
       -  ensuring access to affordable medicines
       -  improving access to education
       -  ending violence against women and girls.
       -  and ending social and environmental exploitation by Canadian mining companies.

To learn more about the needs and struggles of everyone affected by the pandemic, and how GRAN collaborates with international organizations,

The Togogo group includes grandmothers and those who are not, the grandOTHERS. We advocate in many ways: letters, petitions, visits to M.P.s, public witness and demonstrations. To find out more email [email protected] and enjoy friendship and community at our meetings.

New resource: The critical work of community-based organizations

To keep members of the Grandmothers Campaign updated, we created an overview of the urgent priorities shared by our partners, as well as a snapshot of what we mean when we say our partners work holistically to support families and communities affected by HIV and AIDS.
